John has been CEO of AXIS Managing Agency since Q1 2024 and leads the Specialty Underwriting team within AXIS Global Markets. He began his insurance career in 1991 at Commercial Union, before moving to Lloyd’s in 1996 at DP Mann and Novae in 1999. John specialised in underwriting Credit & Political Risks for the first 20 years of his career before expanding into broader management roles from 2011 when he became Novae’s Deputy Active Underwriter. From 2015 he led Marine and Political Risks at Novae, continuing this at AXIS after it acquired Novae in 2017.

John is a recently elected Board Member of the LMA, is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, and has previously served on the Management Committee of International Credit Insurance & Surety Association and as a member of the LMA Political Risks & Financial Contingencies Committee.
