Helene Peter-Davies is a Solicitor and Master Mariner with more than 30 years’ experience of the shipping industry.
Helene qualified as a solicitor in 2012. She practises in admiralty and dry litigation cases that have an emphasis on casualty and technical issues. The management of such cases benefits greatly from her seagoing and shore experience. She has experience of Lloyd’s Salvage Arbitration, LMAA, High Court proceedings, Court of Appeal proceedings and Mediation.
Before pursuing a career in law, Helene gained 12 years’ sea-going experience as both a deck and engineering officer sailing worldwide on a wide variety of vessels. Helene also has experience in an OCIMF vetting role as Deputy Project Manager for an Oil Major and experience in lecturing in Maritime Law at Glasgow College of Nautical Studies and University of Strathclyde.
Through her professional memberships and volunteer engagements, Helene has been recognised for her diversity and mentoring work through the awarding of the Victoria Drummond Award in 2019, and the Merchant Navy Medal in 2020.
