Robert Meijer

Robert Meijer started his career at Royal IHC after finishing his bachelor’s from both the university in Southern Denmark and Saxion Universities in the Netherlands. For IHC he set up and led their office in Nigeria and from there moved on to Seatrucks, to manage a marine services company in the offshore industry as well in Nigeria. After this adventure he joined SMIT Salvage in 2014 in the commercial department.

In this function he was commercially responsible for some major salvage casualties, such as the Modern Express off the coast of France, the New Katerina in the Suez Canal and the Maersk Honam in the Arabian Sea, the latter case was covered all the way from the LOF to the disposal of the debris after the fire.

From 2019 he moved on to lead the (global) projects department and business development for SMIT Salvage. This department deals with the removal of wrecks, such as the Northguider in the Arctics and other related projects, such as the cargo discharge and disposal of the Maersk Honam and offshore- and windfarm related (removal) projects. Recently he and his team were leading the successful set up of an additional emergency response center in Brazil, the development and removal of the FSO Safer in Yemen,  the successful bid for the removal of an oil rig in Southeast Asia, which is currently being executed, and many other tenders for wreck removals worldwide.
